Sharpen your mind. Scale your business. Strengthen your family.

The 1% Club is a weekly letter from Tommy Newberry — one idea at a time, for entrepreneurs who want to grow what they’re building without trading away what matters most at home.

Why this exists

Too many entrepreneurs chase success so hard they end up trading what matters most to get it.

They don’t fall apart. They get distracted. They get overwhelmed. They lose their North Star. Quietly. Gradually. At a cost to their business, their family, and their faith.

After more than 10,000 private coaching sessions across dozens of industries, I’ve learned that the real battle isn’t in the marketplace — it’s in the mind and at home.

That’s what I write about here.

Who I am

I started coaching in 1991, at twenty-five — back when “coaching” wasn’t even a field yet. Since then I’ve worked with thousands of driven entrepreneurs and leaders across more than thirty industries, founded The 1% Club and the Couples Planning Retreat, and served over twenty-five years on the boards of publicly traded companies.

I’ve written seven books. Success Is Not an Accident was self-published in 1997 and has sold more than 100,000 copies. The 4:8 Principle reached #3 on the New York Times bestseller list in 2007. Both have been translated into a dozen languages.

Kristin and I have been married since 1994 and raised three sons. That isn’t a footnote. It’s the classroom that shaped nearly everything I teach.

What I’ve learned about success

1. Success is intentional, not an accident.

It’s built through clarity, discipline, and faith-driven action. When you think clearly and act on purpose, what once felt impossible starts becoming predictable.

2. Success is about stewardship, not entitlement.

Everything I have — my business, my health, my family — is a trust. Real success means multiplying what’s been entrusted to me, not assuming I’m owed anything.

3. Success blesses others, not just myself.

The more I grow, the more I can serve. True success lifts families, teams, and communities. It’s never just personal. It’s meant to overflow.

What you’ll get

One short letter a week. One idea, one challenge, no filler.

Motivation is never enough. My goal is to help you think bigger, live bolder, and lead better — starting the morning you read it.

Who this is for

Entrepreneurs, leaders, and parents who are doing well and want to do right. People still on the climb, still shaping a legacy, and unwilling to win at work while losing at home.

It isn’t for anyone looking for quick hacks, or still making excuses.

Coaching for life… since 1991.
